Hi, I’m Paul, founder of yorksound along with my son, Cameron. We’re based in the thriving North Yorkshire market town of Northallerton. We provide high-quality team-development workshops and events with a musical theme.
I’ve worked in the field of people development for over forty years. I started in the health sector, working for the NHS and local authorities, helping people and organisations change their behaviour to become healthier. Then around twenty years ago, I set up my own management consultancy providing team development and change management services, where I’ve devised and delivered change programmes for national and multi-national organisations.
But I’ve had a parallel career. I’m a musician, and I played my first professional paid gig when I was just fourteen years old. Since then I’ve combined my passion for helping people change, with a passion for music - working in business during the day, and gigging in bands, theatre pit orchestras and other ensembles on an evening.
It hasn’t always been easy. I remember playing a week’s run of a musical in Middlesbrough in the North East of England, but getting up at 2am one morning for a 5-hour drive to Norwich, to deliver a workshop to the Chief Exec and senior leaders of the Local Council, and then driving 5 hours back in time for the gig on the evening!
And then a few years ago I had an idea – what if I could combine my skills as a people development specialist with my skills as a musician? What if I could use music to help people in work improve themselves and their performance?
And so yorksound was born.

An all-round creative powerhouse, Cameron's musical interests spill across all sorts of genres! Most often seen in his natural habitat - behind a piano keyboard – Cameron is just as comfortable at a jazz bar as he is in a concert hall. He is currently completing a PhD in Composition at the University of York, and he is an experienced teacher with all age groups. When not making music, Cameron is busy teaching himself how to code, and watching American Football.
