About us

I’ve worked in the field of people development for over forty years. I started in the health sector, working for the NHS and local authorities, helping people and organisations change their behaviour to become healthier. Then around twenty years ago, I set up my own management consultancy providing team development and change management services, where I’ve devised and delivered change programmes for national and multi-national organisations.

 

But I’ve had a parallel career. I’m a musician, and I played my first professional paid gig when I was just fourteen years old. Since then I’ve combined my passion for helping people change, with a passion for music - working in business during the day, and gigging in bands, theatre pit orchestras and other ensembles on an evening.

 

It hasn’t always been easy. I remember playing a week’s run of a musical in Middlesbrough in the North East of England, but getting up at 2am one morning for a 5-hour drive to Norwich, to deliver a workshop to the Chief Exec and senior leaders of the Local Council, and then driving 5 hours back in time for the gig on the evening!

 

And then a few years ago I had an idea – what if I could combine my skills as a people development specialist with my skills as a musician? What if I could use music to help people in work improve themselves and their performance? 

 

And so yorksound was born.

 

At yorksound:

• we create unique pieces of music for special occasions. 

• we supply bands and ensembles for all kinds of events.
